Taking home their new flutes from a workshop at Mt Mee near Brisbane, Qld.
Windelf also runs make -your-own -flute workshops.
Native American , Shakuhachi or Tranverse Flutes can be made. The workshops can take anywhere between 2 and 5 hours,(with 8 to 16 participants) the time being dependent on the age and skill of the makers and numbers present. Bamboo that has been heat treated and cut to approximate lengths is supplied as is all necessary tools and guidance. Individuals make their own flute and tune it to the correct pitch.
You can make a flute by organizing a group in your area or leave me your email address and you will be notified of any workshop nearby. Flutes can also be made at my stall at festivals I attend (see below for details).
I find that helping people make their own flute is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do. I have built my own home and lived in the bush most of my adult life. I gain immense satisfaction from improvising and making lots of different things with my own hands .
In these days of off -the- shelf everything ,lots of people no longer make things for themselves. I like encouraging people to make their own flute and take a more hands-on approach to life .The flute they end up with may not be the best in the world ,(though I would not like to discount that possibility) but it will be their very own unique instrument. This makes a great gift to yourself or to another.
Once you know how to make one flute ,you can find some bamboo , and who knows? Maybe one day you will have flutes lying around everywhere like I do .
Please contact me for workshop prices if you are interested .

----Festivals and info----
Windelf picks up a few playing tips at the Wintermoon festival
I don't tend to sell my flutes at many festivals these days as I am happy to stay home and mostly sell over the internet .
Why go anywhere if I am happy at home ?
I will post it here if I have any events planned .
